I often hear people say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I agree because if I personally get that wrong, the knock-on effect can affect my whole day. If I start feeling tired and grumpy from poor food choices it can be hard to rescue it (my days activities) half-way through!
This is the same for our hifdh. One of the best times to read is after or even from before fajr. By the permission of Allaah we will see an amazing difference to our day if we start it with something for His sake. That peaceful feeling can sometimes stay with you for the remaining 12 or so hours , renewed after every salaat. Starting like this also makes us want to do more later on during any other pockets of time we have.
When we start our days thinking about work, money, games, tv, music or some stressful issue or some kind of sin, it can be difficult to find a point in that day to sit and move our focus away from that and towards the Qur’aan. The shaytaan will also aid us in this distraction as it is in his favour (I seek refuge in Allaah from him).
Allaah mentions in suratul Israa ayah 78 : and recite the Quran in the early dawn (i.e. the morning prayer). Verily, the recitation of the Quran in the early dawn is ever witnessed (attended by the angels in charge of mankind of the day and the night).
May Allaah put blessings in our time and enable us to make the most of every second and not waste it without feeling remorse, and may He protect us from being amongst those who feel remorse in the afterlife.
I must say…I am a champion goal setter. I can sit and set hundreds of goals about what I’d like to do and where I’d like to be in 10 years time etc. The problem (you knew there had to be one right) usually comes when I try to follow them through. Once the novelty of a new goal wears off, I have difficulty maintaining my motivation. Everything starts to sloooooow down and eventually stop! I’m not saying that I’m a “Quitter”, but just more of a “Delayer” lol.
I never totally give up on my goals, but sometimes I just stop doing what I need to do. Either that or I get too distracted, forget and fall behind.
There are many things you can do to beat this problem and increase motivation like working with a partner/group, writing a journal and if you click –>here<– a wonderful sister wrote a whole article about it maasha Allaah.
I’d like to share one of the stranger things we like to do in our family…… (more…)
This is another method of memorisation but it’s not from the book “Kayfa Tahfathul Qur’aan Al Kareem” By Dr Yahya Al Gawthaany.
The method we have today is:
How To Memorise a Page In 30mins/The Procrastinator Special.
People procrastinate in different areas of their lives and for different reasons. Unfortunately, I do it when I have to memorise. I do it sometimes because I’m tired but the main reason it happens is because I’m a perfectionist.
Sounds strange I know but let me explain…… (more…)
I have a lovely book called “Kayfa tahfadh al-Qur’aan al-Kareem (how to memorise the Noble Qur’aan)” by Dr Yahya Ibn Abdur-Razaq Al-Gawthaany. Maasha Allaah its a really lovely book and it combines between the main principles of memorisation and different methods in which it can be done. My husband and I will try our best to give basic/general translations of some of these methods to share with you in-shaa Allaah.
The first we have chosen is:
Al-Hifdh Bayna Ithnayn/Memorisation Between Two
The author (hafeethahullaah) said what could mean: (more…)
maasha Allaah the children finished Surah Taha today. That is their 6th juz now subhaan Allaah.
May Allaah bless them and increase them in good Ameen.
maasha Allaah the children finished Surah Maryam and started Taha this week. I’m happy but I feel like I’m in some kind of high speed car chase. I visualise myself with my left hand behind the passenger seat and my right hand on the wheel….I look behind me to see how close they are…and they (my children) are very close behind me indeed!
I am behind schedule but alhamdulillaah I am still moving. I had a few setbacks and I’ll be writing about them soon in-shaa Allaah. (when you find out what they are you’ll see the irony in that last sentence lol).
Their progress encourages me to keep going alhamdulillaah, may Allaah bless them and increase them.
I just made some new charts to help monitor progress for Juz Dhariyaat. As you can see my design themes are pretty basic. If you’d like to use them but maybe a different colour just send me a message and I’ll change them for you in-shaa Allaah.
