Our Journey as a family towards memorisation of the Qur'aan

Bismillaah…

Assalaamu alaikum,

Group of human hands showing unity

everyday we all have a reason to wake and be grateful but today, I am feeling especially blessed.

The choice that we’ve made to try to memorise the Qur’aan is one that occupies my mind throughout the day.  Not in the sense that I am always busy with it, how I wish that were the case, but rather these days, I am always thinking and worrying about it.  As I finish different tasks and/or become preoccupied with other things…I keep stopping to think “when will I get a moment to stop and do my hifdh?, when will I get a chance to get my mushaf?, will this be another day that I don’t get to do as much as I’d like to?”

As a busy mother there are times when the day is done and I sit at 12am midnight and wonder “where did my day go?”  I’m sure many of you can relate to this.  We are all very busy people, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, husbands, wives, students, teachers, workers….the list goes on.

This “loss of time” is one of the problems that a person can face when choosing to take this task up on his or her own.  It can be so easy to delay things when you have no-one other than yourself to account to.

Today my  children and I are roughly around the same place in our hifdh and I feel like they came to rescue me, the damsel in hifdh distress. They are my “live-in hifdh partners” came and encouraged me to keep going when my momentum was reaching a stand-still.  Afterall….I don’t want to be left behind so now they’re carrying me with them to the end bi-ithnillaah.  We try to make sure that I keep up with them and I’ve asked them to check on me to make sure I’m keeping up everyday.

Alhamdulillaah, alhamdulillaah, I  thank Allaah for blessing me with them and for giving us the idea to work together as partners and I pray that Allaah accept it from us as an act of cooperation upon goodness and that it be something that causes Him to be pleased with us aameen.

I ask that if you are alone in your hifdh, please try to find someone else to work with….just 1.  If you can find more alhamdulillaah that’s good but at least one person to help you along and check on you and that’s a person other than your  teacher.

Don’t forget your family!  Sometimes you may not want to tell your friends that you are memorising to help preserve your intention.  If this is the case for you then ask a family member to help you or just to keep track of you daily.

If you really can’t find anyone then keep a daily journal and be strict about writing in it daily.

One day we can open a forum so that we can find and help each other bi ithnillaah

This is one of those choices that with the permission of Allaah, will make a huge difference in your progress.  Even if you don’t feel like you need one, wouldn’t you just love to be in a position to help someone else, imagine the reward you could get subhan Allaah!

We just work so much better when we work together.

May Allaah make it easy for us all aameen

  3. As’salamu Alaykum, May Allah increase you all in success! I have a question how do you set a stable revision plan for daily? I find it hard to revise.

    • wa alaikumus salaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh, I’m so sorry subhan Allaah Ive been without an internet connection for some time. Ameen to your dua I really do appreciate it, mayAllaah grant you the same and more. Regarding revision, its tricky to be honest (nott hat I’d be dishonest lol). You can set many programs and schedules that you are fully capable of commiting to but, if you are not ready to actually do it, maybe you are not motivated enough then these plans will fall through. Because of this, I’d reccommend starting small. This will seem difficult if you have memorised a lot but the main aim here is to establish a daily habit of review. After about 20days without any breaks you will be acustomed to this and bi ithnillaah it will be a part of your daily routine on auto pilot and can start to increase the amount. Having someone to work with and test you is great and the best thing but if you cant then never stop making dua for a partner to work with as this can really help.
I’ll be making dua for you my sister ❤
