Our Journey as a family towards memorisation of the Qur'aan

Assalaamu alaikum

My hifdhspiration

It’s no secret, the journey to memorisation is usually quite a long one. It takes patience, perseverance and more.  I pray Allaah make it easy for those that desire it.  Allaah has blessed us with so many reminders to help encourage us, but when feeling down, it can be easy to forget to read these things or the action of going to find them can seem hard.

Now, imagine if every time you or your children felt slow and unmotivated in your Hifdh, all you had to do was open one little book and it (this book), would instantly make you feel excited again! It would make you feel motivated, renewed, revived revitalised… all of the good “re” words ha ha!  Well, that’s what we tried to do with our book of “Hifdh-spiration”. It’s a collection of things we use to inspire and motivate our Hifdh.

It’s not just something for children, it can be used for adults too!

It’s basically a blank note-book.  This book is basically something that can enable you to see your goal of hifdh of the Qur’aan. You can have several sections in it to collect the different types of things that motivate you.   Here are some examples:

  1. Ayaat from the Qur’aan
  2. Beneficial Ahaadeeth on the good  rewards
  3. Excerpts from poems about hifdh
  4. Graphically written visualisations of what it will be like when you complete.
  5. The things that you’d like to do once you’ve completed (like teaching etc).
  6. Prizes that you may get or pictures of toys (more specific to children)
  7. Stories from other huffaath
  8. Advice from teachers
  9. Advice you have written to yourself
  10. Lists of goals
  11. Ways the shaytaan try to decieve you

Basically anything.

My children at the moment keep adding pictures of food lol, they must enjoy the parties that they have!  They also have pictures of toys that they want…you can see where this is going right.  Sometimes they draw in the book or  stick cuttings from old catalogues.  It’s nice to see them getting excited as they add new things.  I try to give them the ahaadeeth of the benefits to copy out so that they don’t just think it’s all about parties etc.

I haven’t made one for myself yet but I am definitely planning to in-shaa Allaah….I dont know why I keep delaying it…. maybe I’ll do it today.

May Allaah make it easy for us all and accept it from us aameen.

My daughter decided to do something similar a few months ago and made a poster for the days she feels down esp after a round of murajaah that didn’t go particularly well!

    • Awwwww May Allaah bless her, its sad to see them feeling that way but alhamdulillaah its really great that she recognises that there are different points of action that she can take to rescue herself when she has problems rather than just continuing to feel sad about them. May Allaah increase you all in goodness aameen

  2. That’s quite a cool idea. I currently have a hifdh notebook on evernote and every time i come across a inspirational hadith/quote/story i put it in there and go back to it when im in need of motivation. But i like ur idea of a physical book and making a bit more personal. Its like a log book of ur hifdh journey Might try it sometime… 🙂

    Wa alaykum as salaam

  3. […] “hifdh-spiration” books have also been a great help as they encourage them to visualise what it will be like […]

  4. […] is where things like the book of Hifdh-spiration are […]

Reblogged this on Wasfeeya Altalib and commented:
All praise and thanks are due to Allāh (SWT), who blessed us with the Glorious Qur’ān. Abundant salutations be upon our beloved teacher and role model, the first haafidh, Nabi Muhammad (SAW).

I absolutely love this idea! Give it a try in-sha-Allah!
