Heres a lovely documentary, “Qur’an by Heart” about children from around the world taking part in the annual Cairo International Holy Qur’an Competition. Its for children that have memorised the entire Qur’aan. They’re sat in front of a special computer that selects a random portion which they then must recite (with correct tajweed) before a group of scholars from Al-Azhar and an audience.
It follows three Muslim youths — Nabiollah from Tajikistan, Rifdha from the Maldives, and Djamil from Senegal — as they enter into an annual Koran-reciting competition in Cairo, Egypt. The competition attracts hundreds of Muslims from all over the world, many of whom don’t speak Arabic, but are able to recite the entire 600-page Koran — and beautifully.
its been a long time since I last posted anything, we’ve all been really busy since Ramadhaan started alhamdulillaah. We all set many targets and have been trying hard to remain consistent so we can complete them. I have been trying to memorise as I have some strict targets I need to meet but hifdh while fasting is something that I find difficult at times. Alhamdulillaah. There have been slow days for me but I’m still not too far off my goals alhamdulillaah.
The children and I have been going over the Seerah during Ramadhan, they always do but there has been even more focus on it. It gives them a basic Tafseer into some of the ayaat they are learning as with the Seerah you learn the reason why some of the ayaat were revealed and who they were revealed for. It really helps us to create a picture of the story in our minds and this aids our memorisation.
